Dr. Kilian Brech, MD

Dr. Brech grew up north of Philadelphia where his family raised horses and enjoyed foxhunting. After attending college at Penn State (where he graduated with honors with a Degree in Biochemistry), he went on to Medical School at Temple University. After medical school, he wanted to get out of the city, and went on to finish his pediatric residency at East Carolina University.

Still unsure of where to settle down, he took advantage of the opportunity to serve in the Air Force and settled on a duty Station in Anchorage Alaska as a Pediatrician. He continued his service with another 6 year term in Germany and then proceeded to earn his wings as an F-16 Flight Surgeon.

As his children approached high school age an opportunity arose for him to return to his home state of Pennsylvania, where he spent 13 years in private practice working for the Geisinger Clinic. Once his daughters were grown, Dr. Brech decided to look at other possibilities - he had been coming to the Blue Ridge area for several years doing dressage clinics. He purchased property in Botetourt County in 2014 which brought him to Physicians to Children shortly thereafter.

He is a successful beekeeper with about 20 hives, an experienced Dressage rider, does some light woodworking, dabbled in Latin dance, and most recently gained experience on the pottery wheel.
